A flaw was found in the Linux kernel's Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) FireWire Control Protocol (FCP) subsystem. This vulnerability allows a local attacker to trigger the copying of uninitialized kernel memory to userspace. By sending a specially crafted short or zero-length data stage during the FCP initialization, an attacker could potentially read sensitive information from the kernel's memory.
kernel: ALSA: FCP: do not copy out an uninitialised init response — rated Moderate by Red Hat. Released 2026-09-11, updated 2026-09-14.
