The current `iio_dma_fence` implementation uses `kfree()`,\nwhich might result in a use-after-free.\n\nRemove the custom `release` implementation. This makes the DMA fence core\nfall back to `dma_fence_free()`, which calls `kfree_rcu()` on the fence.\nThis requires that the fence be the first member of `struct iio_dma_fence`.\n\nUsing the default release method for extended DMA fence structures is a\ncommon pattern.\n\n## Remediation\n\nRefer to the linked advisories for vendor-supplied fixes and affected version ranges.","depth":"twilight","depthScore":43,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":42.9,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":205105,"id":"CVE-2026-89941","ts":1789570705253,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"7.8"},{"seq":205104,"id":"CVE-2026-89941","ts":1789570705253,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"high"}]}
