The `nfsd3_proc_setacl()` function unconditionally processes Access Control List (ACL) update requests, even when the client's request does not specify an ACL to be set. A remote attacker could exploit this by sending a crafted `SETACL` request, leading to the unintended removal of a directory's default ACL or both access and default ACLs. This could result in unauthorized changes to file system permissions.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Moderate · affected: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4 · no fix planned: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8, … · updated 2026-09-21 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-89671.json)\n\n**kernel: nfsd: gate nfs3 setacl by argp->mask** — rated Moderate by Red Hat.
