When an Ingress path uses a regex that captures attacker-controlled text without requiring a path separator (e.g., path /api(.*) with rewrite target /$1), a crafted request such as /api../admin matches the public router, is rewritten to a dot-segment traversal path (/../admin), and is forwarded without post-replacement normalization validation. A backend that normalizes dot segments resolves the path to a protected endpoint (e.g., /admin) reachable only through a separate router secured with BasicAuth, DigestAuth, or ForwardAuth, resulting in route-level authentication bypass. The issue is fixed in v3.7.8.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `traefik >= 3.7.0, < 3.7.8`\n\n## Remediation\n\nUpgrade past the affected range:\n\n- `traefik 3.7.8`\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **Red Hat VEX** · Critical · updated 2026-09-16 · [vex](https://security.access.redhat.com/data/csaf/v2/vex/2026/cve-2026-67309.json)","depth":"twilight","depthScore":41,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":41.3,"likelihood":0.1,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":205754,"id":"CVE-2026-67309","ts":1789592771618,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"7.5"},{"seq":205753,"id":"CVE-2026-67309","ts":1789592771618,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"high"}]}
