In that case the BUG_ON() fires and panics the kernel from a\nuser-triggerable path.\n\nTreat the \"bind returned -EINVAL but pn_port() is still 0\" case as a\nregular error and propagate -EINVAL to the caller instead of crashing.\nExisting callers already translate a non-zero return from\npn_socket_autobind() into -ENOBUFS/-EAGAIN, so returning -EINVAL here\nonly changes behaviour from panic to a normal errno.\n\n## Affected\n\n- `linux_kernel >= 2.6.28, < 7.0.10`\n- `linux_kernel = 7.1`\n\n## Remediation\n\nUpgrade past the affected range:\n\n- `linux_kernel 7.0.10`","depth":"sunlit","depthScore":30,"depthScoreParts":{"impact":30.3,"likelihood":0,"exploitation":0,"ransomware":0},"changes":[{"seq":222318,"id":"CVE-2026-53292","ts":1792065876717,"field":"cvss","old":null,"new":"5.5"},{"seq":222317,"id":"CVE-2026-53292","ts":1792065876717,"field":"severity","old":"none","new":"medium"}]}
