The device may experience a performance degradation in traffic processing or high CPU usage prior to the unexpected reload.\r\n\r\nThis vulnerability is due to improper rate limiting of IP packets to the management interface. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending a steady stream of IP traffic at a high rate to the management interface of the affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause the device to reload.\r\n\r\nCisco has released software updates that address this vulnerability. There are no workarounds that address this vulnerability.\n\n## Vendor advisories\n\n- **cisco-sa-ap-ip-flood-dos-6hxxENVQ** · Cisco · affected: Cisco Aironet Access Point Software (IOS XE Controller), Cisco Aironet Access Point Software · updated 2022-04-13 · [advisory](https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-ap-ip-flood-dos-6hxxENVQ)\n\n**Cisco Embedded Wireless Controller with Catalyst Access Points IP Flood Denial of Service Vulnerability**.
